Mrs. Graves' Art Classes Jan. 24 - Jan. 28

Pottery II- You are finishing your 1st mold project, you should be adding the foot and perfecting your craftsmanship. Pay special attention to the lip of your container. Begin your second mold project by analyzing your first, what worked well, what would you improve on? Some general observations I have: Work a little bigger, some are too small; push the creativity, many are looking similar; Incorporate found objects into your plan. Both mold projects should be done by Friday.

Pottery III- You are continuing your independent project, make sure you have your project plan worksheet completed!

BOTH Pottery II and III!! Your first ceramic artist research bio is due on Tuesday!

Pottery I- On Monday and Tuesday finish up your surface decoration on your Ocarina. For the subtraction piece make sure you are actually carving and not just engraving, change the entire surface area. Tuesday and Wednesday I will be working with you to add the airway and beveled holes to make the whistle have a sound. Thursday we begin our tile carving. With this project you are learning to make the clay have a representaional appearance. You will do 4 rough draft sketches of realistic subject matter that are interesting and have good texture. You must work from a photo so be looking for a good picture of plants, reptiles, mammals.

Visual Arts- Yeah!! We are finishing up the watercolor paintings. Tuesday will be the last day in class to paint. The grace period is up on February 1st. We will take a break from painting and drawing and do a quick clay project the end of this week. We will be dealing with contour lines and relief sculptures.
