Briscoe Foundations of Drawing - Value

In several of my classes recently we have discussed value and contrast. Value is the relationship between dark and light. In class we have discussed how contrast or differences between different value tones can create the illusion of depth and form. This presentation is a brief introduction to value.

Chalk Walk 2011

Once again, the time has arrived for our LSW students to join together in teams to design and create chalk drawings to decorate the thoroughfares of the New Longview Shopping District. The LSW art students have competed and one "Best Design" the last three out of four years. We want to recruit all of our students to join us in participating.

In order to compete you must pick up a form from one of your art teachers, build a team of three or four students and create a design to be submitted for consideration. If you are accepted you will join us Saturday, October 1st to implement your design.

The theme for this year's Chalk Walk competition will be "Vintage Postcards" using Lee's Summit/Longview as the main subject.
